Novel “Pair
ID” and “Case Management” Features
with File Archiving
Concise and in-depth comparison of possible matches with
file save for history recall
One of the more powerful concepts underlying Silverstone Matchmaker is the
ability to easily move from a tabular list view of large amounts of data to
being able to quickly contrast and compare multiple selections of recipients
and donors by use of a “Match Card” metaphor.
To compare the potential cross-matched donors with a single recipient, simply double-click on a recipient in any of the Match Tab views and a “Pair ID” card is displayed within a workspace called the “Matchsheet”. This card metaphor combines the parameter data from each potentially matched donor with the corresponding recipient. The card layouts can be manipulated on the fly through the “View” and “Action” menu
commands for quick views of pair or swap data. A particularly promising match
group can also be saved as a record in the Case Management Tab.
In the Case Management mode of the application, this same card metaphor is
used to fully analyze those grouped pairs selected by the doctor or clinician
for closer evaluation. The same process is used whereby a simple double-click
is used to build the comparison card for each case being managed. Case Management
is a crucial function of Matchmaker as it can isolate recipient/donor pairs
and have them held and excluded from other general purpose matching from the
unmatched pool of recipients.
Also of great importance is the ability to save cards as snapshots in time.
This feature is provided through the “Actions” menu command. The “Save
Card as HTML” command provides multiple benefits of critical importance.
First, decisions made about final pair groupings may require the ability to
review decisions made on a historical basis. Being able to periodically save
cards throughout the analysis process creates separate time/date stamped files
which offer a valid archival process that could support auditing by others.
Another purpose of equal importance, is the ability to send card files to other
doctors or clinics where the recipients and donor information is anonymized
as the HTML file is being saved. This could allow multiple institutions to
work together without any possible violation of patient privacy.
