SILVERSTONE SOLUTIONS - THE FIRST IMPLEMTATION OF SILVERSTONE MATCHMAKER

San Francisco, CA February 14, 2007 Silverstone Solutions, Inc. – Silverstone Solutions, an innovator in life science computing, today announced Silverstone Matchmaker, a software solution that provides doctors and clinicians with the tools necessary to rapidly and accurately match living organ donors with patients who are in need of a kidney transplant.

Matchmaker is a desktop application that performs comprehensive donor/recipient pair matches for patients in need of a kidney transplant. It supports the emergent Paired Donation approach, which matches two incompatible donor/recipient pairs with an alternate, compatible pair.

Matchmaker was inspired by the need to more effectively utilize scarce, living donor organs and deliver them to patients in need, thereby shortening time spent on the deceased donor organ list, saving substantial healthcare costs relating to dialysis treatments and ultimately saving lives. Using advanced matching and optimization algorithms, Matchmaker can perform comprehensive donor/recipient pair matches within minutes, saving transplant clinics months of work necessary to fully assess potential pairs. These processes yield the best-case matches, which ultimately result in more successful paired donation transplants.  Matchmaker also provides clinicians with case management tools, leaving the power to selectively manipulate matches and incorporate additional data from the transplant team.

California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco, CA, which has one of the largest kidney transplant programs in the country, is the first to implement Matchmaker and they announced today that they have performed their first paired kidney donation with the assistance of Matchmaker data.

"Matchmaker is an amazing marriage of state of the art transplant surgery and software technology that both matches incompatible pairs and does so in a way that minimizes the work that the transplant center needs to do to reach this goal," said Dr. Steven Katznelson, Medical Director, CPMC Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program.

Matchmaker was conceived by Silverstone Solutions founder and CEO - David S. Jacobs.  A successful and highly regarded software entrepreneur, Mr. Jacobs, founded the company as a direct result of his own experience as a kidney disease patient.  Jacobs has polycystic kidney disease (PKD), an inherited disease and one of the leading causes of end-stage renal failure.  Fortunately, Mr. Jacobs received a living donor kidney transplant in 2004 after spending years undergoing dialysis treatment. While on dialysis, he committed himself to developing a better way to utilize the scarce availability of viable organs for transplantation.

“Having been on dialysis and the deceased donor list for years, I know firsthand the suffering renal patients must endure while waiting for an available organ. This profound experience has inspired me to find a way to assist others who may not be as fortunate,” said Mr. Jacobs.

Following the successful implementation of Silverstone Matchmaker into the CPMC Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program, Silverstone Solutions will begin licensing Matchmaker to leading transplant clinics in the United States in Q2 of 2007.
